Welcome to our May update! It has been an incredibly busy and rewarding few weeks here at Street Angels. As the season shifts, so does the energy of our outreach, and we have plenty of news to share with the community that makes our work possible.
A New Chapter at Kyrl’s Quay
We are officially settled into our new hub at Kyrl’s Quay! Transitioning to a new space is always a challenge, but we are finding our rhythm. This location has already become a vital sanctuary for those we serve. We would like to thank Cork City Council for providing this space to us and the other groups.
Every Monday, we continue to see a high volume of friends and neighbors seeking:
- Hot food and warm drinks.
- Weather-appropriate clothing, including shoes.
- A safe space for connection and conversation.
Gratitude for Our Community
We recently celebrated Easter at the hub, and it was a wonderful reminder of the spirit of giving. We want to extend a massive thank you to our regular donors. Your consistency allowed us to provide a little extra joy and comfort during the holiday period—we couldn’t have done it without you.

- Donatello’s Pizza
- Domino’s Pizza
- Murphy’s Chipper
- Baker Street Bar
- Poppa Bills
Hello and Farewell
The heart of Street Angels is its people. This month, we’ve seen some changes in our team:
- Welcome: A warm welcome to our several new volunteers! Your energy and willingness to dive in have been a breath of fresh air.
- Farewell: We are saying a fond farewell to a few long-term volunteers who have moved on to new chapters. Thank you for the hours, the heart, and the hard work you dedicated to our mission. You will be missed!
Beyond the Basics: Rehabilitation Support
Our work often goes deeper than a hot meal. We are currently walking alongside two men as they navigate their rehabilitation journeys. Supporting individuals as they reclaim their lives is intensive work, but it is some of the most impactful outreach we do. We are incredibly proud of their progress.
How You Can Help: The Rising Costs of Care
As our outreach grows, so do our overheads. Providing even the simplest comforts has become a significant financial undertaking. To give you an idea of our baseline costs:
The “Essentials” Bill: Just providing tea, coffee, sugar, and milk for our visitors currently costs us €160 per week.
That is €640 a month just for the basic ingredients of a warm welcome, before we even consider food, clothing, or rehabilitation support.
If you are in a position to help, please consider a monetary donation. Whether it’s the cost of a bag of coffee or a larger contribution toward our rehab advocacy, every Euro goes directly toward keeping the lights on and the kettles boiling at Kyrl’s Quay.
Thank you for standing with us and for being the “Angels” our streets need.
